2024 Wednesday Night Schedule

This schedule is tentative and is dependent on weather and other events that impact availability.  We try our best to keep this schedule up to date througout the season.

May 22nd- Marsh Creek, with DCNR Educator
May 29th- Reeser’s Landing to Union Meadows
June 5th – Union Meadows to Pottstown
June 12th- Ganshahawny to Pottstown
June 19th- NO WEDNESDAY PADDLE, SOJOURN WEEK
June 26th- Lock 60 Loop
July 3rd – Towpath to Trinley
July 10th – Trinley to Spring City (SUP friendly, shorter)
July 17th – Lock 60 Loop
July 24th- Reeser’s Landing to Union Meadows
July 31st – Ganshahawny to Pottstown
August 7th – Union Meadows to Pottstown
August 14th – Moving Water Practice at Trinley Park
August 21st –Spring City to Phoenixville (SUP friendly, shorter)
August 28th – Ganshahawny to Pottstown
September 4th – Lock 60 Loop

Information

WHEN

Wednesday Paddles take place almost every Wednesday night from May through September of each year.  They typically start around 6:00 pm and end around 7:30-8:00 pm.  Please see tentative schedule posted below.

WHERE

Wednesday Paddles take place throughout the entire Schuylkill Watershed and the location changes every week.  Some of the locations that we paddle include the loop in Phoenixville, Blue Marsh, Marsh Creek, and various sections of the Schuylkill River.  

WHO

Beginners and experts alike join us every Wednesday for an evening paddle and to socialize with friends and fellow kayakers.

We also use the social media platform MeetUp to post our events and through each MeetUp event you are able to find the registration link for each weeks Wednesay paddle.  if you join the waitlist on MeetUp and follow the posted link to register then you will be moved to the going list.  Find a link to our MeetUp Below.  

BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT

Feel free to bring your own kayak or canoe to these events.   Please remember that even if you are using your own equipment we require you to wear a lifevest while participating in any of our events.  

RENTALS

Rentals are available for Wednesday evening paddles and a fee is charged for their use.  You will be able to choose the option to use a rental kayak, pfd, and paddle through the registration process.  

COST 

If you are using your own equipment then often times Wednesday paddles are free or are a nominal fee.  If a shuttle is involved for a river trip then a fee is added to the event to cover it’s cost.  Take It Outdoors provides on water guides, certified instructors, facilititates the group and needs to cover its business expenses.  Please understand the nominal fees occasionally charged for these events and the costs we incur operating shuttles.  

GROUP SIZE

Depending on location, and whether a shuttle is involved, group sizes for wednesday paddles generally range from 20 to 30 participants.  These events typically fill up within the first 24-48 hours of being posted.
