Coming SoonCommonly Asked Questions for TIO Overnighters
Is the gear provided by TIO?
Yes, majority of the gear is provided by Take it Outdoors. We however do not provide sleeping bags, and other personal gear like reuseable water bottles, a proper rain jacket, or other sepcialty clothing. Most of our trips are designed so that you simply show up with the needed clothes, hygiene items, and we handle the rest
What if it rains during our trip?
If it rains, we typically make the most of the expereience! Braving the elements and getting through the challenges that mother nature throughs at us is a great expereince in and of itself. We do not cancel trips because of rain or inclimenet weather unless high water levels, drastic tempatures or severe weather effect the safety of our participants.
What do I need to pack?
Every trips packing list is different and we provide particpants with these lists by request or upon signing up for each adventure. Most of our trips are designed so that you simply show up with the needed clothes, hygiene items, and we handle the rest

If you sign up for a trip by yourself we assume that you would like to have your own tent, if you sing up with another person we will ask you after signing up what your preference is.

Most of our overnight trips are primitive style camping trips. When we say this, we mean that there is no running water, bathrooms, or showers available. We do however pack in a portable toilet system on most of our trips for bagging out our waste.
What’s the food like?
We try to make the most enjoybale menu possible for our guests when we are out on an overnight adventure. Every trips menu is different and we often survey our guests before each trip to learn some of their preferences to help cater a menu to the whole group. Our canoe trips have rather extensive menus while on our kayaking and backpacking trips we utilize a lot of freeze dried or creative meals to conserve on weight participants have to carry.
What if I have a particular diet?
We do our best to accomodate different dietary needs and restricitions. It’s rather common for people who are plant based, gluten free or people who have allergies to participate on our adventures as long as they are willing to assist us in helping make sure they have what they need. Please reach out with your restrictions before signing up to make sure it’s right for you.
