Join Take It Outdoors for a three day kayak trip on the mighty Susquehanna River and enjoy a few days away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. As we journey through the heart of Pennsylvania we will paddle through some of the hundreds of islands on the “mile wide” river and enjoy the cooler temps of September for an unforgettable adventure.

BEGINNER FRIENDLY
This trip is great for people looking to take there kayaking to the next level and combine it with camping.
GEAR PROVIDED
Everything you will need, except your personal sleeping bag and personal gear such as clothing and rain gear are provided.
WHERE
This trip will take place on the middle section of the Susquehanna. North of Harrisburg.
PACKING LIST
We provide a detailed packing list to all participants after registration. Generally the only major pieces of gear participants must provide are a sleeping bag, and appropiate rain gear.
GEAR PROVIDED
We provide all of the necessary kayaking gear, kayak, and all of your camping gear besides sleeping bags and appropiate rain gear.
ABILITY LEVEL
Ability to paddle 12+ miles in one day.
AGE LIMITS
Minimum age of 15 years old. All Minors must be accompanied by guardian.

What to Expect & Commonly Asked Questions
CAMPFIRE TIME
This is often everyones favorite part of our adventures. We are always sure to make time to sit around the fire preparing dinner together and enjoying the quiet evenings on the river.
COMMUNITY
When you spend three days with strangers a natural community forms where everyone is looking out for one another.
PADDLING
our overnight trips do involve a good deal of paddling spaced out throughout the day. We take breaks, stop at points of interest, and socialize along the way.
NATURE
From the river to the forests covering the mountains around us, this trip immerses us into the best of what central Pennsylvania has to offer.
DO WE SHARE TENTS?
All participants are provided with their own tent, however if you come with a partner it is best to share a tent to cut down on weight.
WHAT DO WE EAT?
We eat a variety of foods, we usually eat a big breakfast, sandwhiches or wraps for lunch and a hot dinner every evening. We share a detailed menu and survey guests to meet everyones needs the best that we can.
ARE THERE SHOWERS?
We will be staying at primitive camp sites with zero running water.
WHERE DO WE GO TO THE BATHROOM?
We practice leave no trace principles. We either bag it and take it out, or use best practices for going to the bathroom outside.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN BOAT?
We prefer that you use our boats as we design the gear we use and packing around our boats. If you have a boat that you think would work well and you prefer it, please reach out and ask us.
How many miles will we cover?
We aim to cover about 40 miles over the course of the three days. Depending on high water levels we are sometimes able to cover more mileage, and sometimes due to lowe water we have to cover less
