“From its source at Fairfax Stone, high in the Appalachian Mountains, to Point Lookout on the ChesapeakeBay, the mighty Potomac River winds its way through 386 miles of Americana……..Native Americans knew it as the Patawomeke, and in 1608 Captain John Smith plotted its path for European settlers. George Washington was born, lived, and died along its banks.”
We will see only a small piece of this treasure filled with historical landmarks and natural beauties, but every mile of our 40 plus mile paddle is sure to be memorable.

The volunteers of the Schuylkill Canal Association are asking for our help. This Saturday they need some volunteers to help fill sandbags. As a thank you for your help Sly Fox will give a free pint coupon to anyone who volunteers (must be over 21).

The SCA volunteers spend a lot of their personal time, tools and resources to keep the Canal operating...so when they ask for our help we try to do our part in order to keep the canal operating.

This latest project consists of construction of a bulkhead and floating dock at the portage on Schuylkill Canal. This project goal is to eliminate erosion of canal bank and allow safe and easy access to the canal for boaters.

Please email us at doug@takeitoutdoorsadventures.com if you plan on attending.

We plan on meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the Reynolds Dog Park:

Even if you can only give an hour...we appreciate all the help we can get.

Please come out and show your support of the SCA and our beloved Canal Park.

You don't need equipment...Just bring yourself and work clothes. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Please supply us with your email address when you sign up just in case we are meeting at a different spot on the Canal.
